Alter's Gem Jewelry is proud to announce our first cookbook, Gem to Enjoy. This fun, community based cookbook features local recipes as well as submissions from Kate Bosworth, Mario Batali, Rob Reiner, Jeff Foxworthy, former 1st Lady Barbara Bush, former President Jimmy Carter, Senator Kay Baily Hutchinson and more! Our other contributors include world renowned designers such as Sybil and David Yurman, Penny Preville, Bellarri and Laura Gibson and over 100 of our friends, clients and staff.
Alter's Gem Jewelry started in 1915 with my grandfather, Morris L. Jacobs. My father, Nelson Alter joined the business in 1950. I became part of the third generation in our family business in 1983. Each generation grew our business through our pioneering spirit, romantic values and ethics. In short, Alter's Gem Jewelry is about fun and family. Our Family extends beyond the Alter name to include our staff, many of whom have worked with us for 20+ years, and the friendly faces of our customers. We work together and play together, making community and fun a part of our business. These values led to the idea for a cookbook based on submissions from our extended family so that we may share some joy and warmth with others.
